As I started to explore Eastern religions on my spiritual path, a huge part of me felt guilty and didn’t know how to go beyond the ideas of God that had been taught to me in Catholic school. Then in India, Jesus came to me in a vision, passing me along into the hands of a living master, Paramahamsa Nithyananda. So much peace settled inside me–a Catholic school girl who didn’t know if God would want her to start down a new path—when I realized that God is much more than I understood Him to be. My whole life I had only known God to be incarnated as Jesus, but here Jesus was telling me to open my eyes to the God standing right in front of me, an Indian guru wearing a turban!
All of my mental blocks melted away, and I will be forever grateful to Christ for leading me into the hands of a present-day God incarnate (something I thought to be an impossibility in this age). I had only ever cognized God in such a limited way and it felt so unbelievably freeing to expand my ideas of who and what God is.
In the Hindu tradition, the importance of having a LIVING master is emphasized time and time again. Earth is never left without enlightened beings to guide us. I feel so much bliss and peace knowing humanity is never alone and God is infinitely compassionate in His care for us.
Christianity taught me many things along my path, but I reached a point where my questioning was going beyond what information is available in the Church. To date, the only place I have found that has the most vast resources of spiritual and cosmic knowledge which continue to fulfill my seeking, is Sanatana Hindu Dharma.
I have infinite gratitude for all of the beings–Jesus, Mary, my angels– who brought me to my guru, the ultimate embodiment of cosmic consciousness itself. Swamiji, thank you for finding me and helping me reach my ultimate potential. I love you so much.
I experienced this vision and many others during the most life changing retreat called Inner Awakening!
